Iris Magdalene Schmidt is a film director working at the intersection of storytelling, technology and film. With a deep knowledge of AI and virtual production developed over many years, her work shows how emerging technologies can be used to make films in new ways – while always keeping storytelling at the center.
Her work spans short films, fiction, commercials, and music videos, often blending distinctive worlds with innovative visual techniques. Most recently, she directed ‘Another Lovesong’ for singer Drew Sycamore, where everything but the singer was created with AI.
She also created ‘Tænkepauser: Tyngdekraft’ for Danmarks Radio – a nine minute short film made entirely with AI visuals about a man made of stone who tries to defy gravity. ‘Tyngdekraft’ premiered on DR2 and is now available on DRTV.
Iris’s work has been featured in Producers Guild of America magazine and showcased at the Danish Film School’s PictureThis conference, where she spoke about the future of filmmaking. She has also presented at TV2 and Nordisk Panorama Film Festival 2025.
