Uriel Kranot

Multi-Disciplinary Artist

Uri Kranot is a multi-disciplinary artist. He has worked with Michelle Kranot as a duo for 20 years, and their work expands beyond the traditional: their art straddle experimental genres and unfamiliar mediums, fusing handmade crafted images and new technologies into contemporary experiences. They are frequently characterized by a poetic sensibility and fragmented narratives, exploring past and present, fact and fiction. The Kranots enjoy collaborative projects and experimentation across disciplines.

Uri Kranot is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and he was recently honored with the Grand Jury Prize for Best VR Immersive Work at the 77th La Biennale di Venezia, and Best Immersive XR at the 74th Cannes Film Festival.

Together, the Kranots are the founders of TinDrum, a research and development studio, and leaders of ANIDOX, with a focus on animated documentaries, as part of the Animation Workshop / VIA University College.

At THIS 2022, Uriel & Michelle Kranot will join us for the talk From Linear Filmmaking to Immerssive Storytelling. Meanwhile, he will also facilitate the multi-awarded VR experience The Hangman at Home as a THIS 2022 side event.
