Jesper Fink has created a name for himself as a strong naturalistic voice with his meticulously researched films, and a special interest in our common history. He debuted as a screenwriter with the hyper-realistic period drama ”Before the Frost” (2019), directed by Michael Noer. It premiered at Toronto International Film Festival, and later won prizes in Chicago, Tehran and Tokyo, where it won the Jury’s Special Prize. The film also gained Fink a ”Talent of the Year” nomination at the 2020 Danish Film Critics’ Awards.
Fink’s second feature, ”Queen of the North” (2021) directed by Charlotte Sieling – a historical biopic and the single most expensive Danish language film ever – became a big hit with audiences and critics alike, as well as gaining a record of 13 Danish Academy Award nominations, and winning Fink a Danish Film Critics’ Award for Best Screenplay.
Fink debuted as head writer for television in 2023, with Tv2’s 24 episode “Valde’s Christmas”, which has become a huge hit with all age groups. Season 2, also with Fink as head writer, is currently in post, and will premiere in december 2025.
In 2024, three feature films penned by Fink will premiere: “Birthday Girl”, directed by Noer, starring Trine Dyrholm, “Way Home”, directed by Charlotte Sieling, starring Nikolaj Lie Kaas, and the first ever Danish film set 6,000 years ago in the stone age: “Stranger”, directed by Mads Hedegaard.
