Milad Schwartz Avaz is an Iranian-born Danish screenwriter and director. His selftaught path to filmmaking is unlike most. He initially graduated from business school and was headhunted to one of Denmark’s leading investment funds.
After a few years, he resigned his position and moved to Hollywood, California, to pursue his dream of screenwriting. Two years later he and his brothers self-financed their debut feature, While We Live, a family drama that broke all the national records for indie films, hailed critical acclaim for reviewers and they were dubbed among the Top 10 names
to watch out for in Europe by Variety.
In 2021 Milad debuted as a director with the large thriller series for TV2 named ALFA (GROW internationally) which he also wrote. ALFA we selected for Berlinale Series and also won best series in Denmark at TV PRISEN and THIS FESTIVAL. The show was also selected for Monte Carlo and Geneva Film Festivals.
In 2023 he released his first feature film, the feel-good drama Better Times and most recently he wrote and directed the first Scandinavian Amazon Prime Original; STHLM Blackout.
