Is the next Cambridge Analytica Hiding in the Shadows?

As the 2024 US Presidential election approaches, a handful of US voters will cast decisive ballots choosing between former President Donald Trump facing Vice President Kamala Harris (or a third-party “protest vote”), the focus is on how swing voters in battleground districts will influence the outcome. Despite global advancements in data privacy laws following the Cambridge Analytica scandal, the US Congress has yet to enact significant reforms or provide basic federal data protections.

In this session David R. Carroll will explore the implications of this inaction, particularly in the context of the upcoming election, because as the election unfolds, the question remains: if similar covert operations are occurring, will we be able to identify and address them as we did after 2016?
