Camilla Rydbacken is SVP Scripted Content at Viaplay Group, the operator of the fast-expanding Viaplay streaming service. She is responsible for the development of Viaplay’s extensive slate of Originals, which includes the hit dramas ‘Pørni’, ‘Billy the Kid’, ‘Those Who Kill’ and the Canneseries winner ‘Partisan’, along with upcoming Danish productions such as ‘Elvira’ and ‘Face to Face’ season three. Before taking on this role in October 2019, Camilla held a range of senior content positions including Head of Content at NENT Group Sweden and Head of Local Production at Discovery Networks Sweden.
The growth of Viaplay’s drama offering is a story in itself – they launched the first Viaplay Original just six years ago, and with more than 70 premieres planned for 2022, they’ve rapidly become the world’s leading producer of high-end Nordic drama. The slate spans romantic comedy, major international co-pros, young adult stories and animation, while on Viaplay the future of Nordic noir has never been brighter. Now they’re taking their stories to the world, with Viaplay today available direct-to-consumer in 10 countries and launching soon in the UK, US and Canada. In a streaming landscape where local markets are dominated by global players, Viaplay is a local player that’s going global.
In Denmark, Viaplay has yet another strong list of productions this year, including ‘The Dreamer – Becoming Karen Blixen’, ‘Boys’, ‘Where Were You?’, ‘The Kingdom: Exodus’ and many more.
