CEO and Executive Producer, Apple Tree Productions

Piv Bernth is CEO and Executive Producer at Apple Tree Productions.

She is behind some of the biggest successes within Danish TV series in the past 15 years. She has worked as a producer at DR since 1998, and she has produced the Emmy Award winning series, “Nikolaj and Julie”, and the internationally acclaimed “The Killing” (Forbrydelsen), season 1-3. She was also executive producer of “The Bridge” (Broen) and “1864”.

In 2012, Piv was appointed Head of Drama at DR, and in 2017, she formed Apple Tree Productions with Lars Hermann.

Apple Tree Productions is now a part of ITVS in UK and has produced “Equinox” and “Baby Fever” for Netflix, “Blackwater” for SVT Drama, “Dansegarderoben” for TV 2 Denmark, and “One of the Boys” for Viaplay.

Piv Bernth has received countless of awards for her many productions both nationally and global – an international Emmy for “Nikolaj and Julie” in 2003, the Golden Nymph as Best European Producer for “The Killing II”, BAFTA for “The Killing I”, and three Emmy nominations for “The Killing”. “Blackwater” won Best International Drama Series at Series Mania 2023 and Best Series at Kristallen 2023.
