Scenes From a Marriage – Remake of a Nordic Classic for an International Audience
Hagai Levi, Award Winning Writer, Director & Producer of Scenes From A Marriage
Meet the Golden Globe Award winning writer, director and producer Hagai Levi in conversation with session host Andreas Halskov at THIS SERIES, when they will discuss the remake of the Nordic classic Scenes From A Marriage. Levi will include the audience in the process of remaking an already famous Nordic series for an international market, compare scenes from the original to the remake version, and discuss the process of adapting the story into today’s timeline.
The HBO Nordic series Scenes From a Marriage is perhaps on top of the list of the most anticipated series of 2021, which is no wonder. The team behind the new HBO miniseries is more than competent.
The series is a remake of Ingmar Bergman’s classic TV series Scenes from a Marriage from 1973, which followed the ups and downs of a marriage over 10 years. The Swedish master director partly based the plot on his own marriage to actor Liv Ullmann, who played one of the main roles opposite Erland Josephson.
The new rendition is written and directed by Writer, Director & Producer Hagai Levi, whose most recent hit as a showrunner is the award winning Showtime series The Affair. Levi moves the plot from 70s Sweden to today’s USA, where two of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain, play the crisis-stricken couple.
