In this edition of THIS SERIES 2023, we bring a sharp focus back on the Nordic series industry by presenting some of the most socially relevant and culturally impactful series.
We highlight their strengths and discuss the challenges, they have faced to bring forth the lessons we can learn from each other.
Award-winning director Rojda Sekersöz (“Beyond Dreams”, “Young Royals”) is currently working on “Ruset”, a new drama series about young adults’ alcohol culture. The series is initiated by the organization IQ, a subsidiary of Systembolaget, and is Sweden’s first drama series produced for TikTok.
Actors are Fabian Penje , Wilma Lidén, and singer Sabina Ddumba, who is making her acting debut. A fourth and final role was filled by Juan Carlson in May through a nationwide, open call on TikTok.
In this session, we meet producers Amanda Nordlöw and Jonas Eriksson, scriptwriter Sofie Forsman, and actor Fabian Penje.
Together, they will cover the process of creating the series for this particular shorter format-platform, both in writing and producing, and how to orchestrate a distribution that starts already during casting while continuing to stay relevant to the audience. Finally, they will talk about the open call casting, and what it means for actors to have their casting videos public.
