Babylon Berlin – How to Get the Right Tone for the Right Show

SESSION

This is the story behind the amazing and captivating music of “Babylon Berlin”.

“Babylon Berlin” has become one of the most popular TV series – and especially the music has captured the particular atmosphere of the time when Berlin was a dark and raving city in the roaring twenties and just on the brink of the catastrophe.

In this session you can meet award-winning musician, music director, film composer and also the co-writer behind the famous track, “Zu Staub, Zu Asche”, Nikko Weidemann, in a conversation with film composer, Halfdan E.

Nikko Weidemann has been working with prominent musicians and projects such as Nena, Nick Cave, Einstürtzende Neubauten, Rufus Wainwright, Sean Lennon & Conny Plank, and he’s been working on a long list of German film projects – including “Babylon Berlin”. Today he’s touring with the Moka Efti Orchestra – which is also the name of the famous and notorious nightclub from the series.

Halfdan E is known for his score composition for “Borgen”, “Badehotellet” and the Netflix-series, “Ragnarock” a.o. – and he is also known for his work with Danish poet, Dan Turéll – and last but not least, Halfdan composed the latest signature for Danish State Railways.
